Ayako Hiramatsu teaches American Politics as an assistant professor at the Department of British and American Studies, the Faculty of Foreign Studies, Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan.
In August 2016, she received doctor of philosophy degree in political science at the Department of Political Science, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Her PhD dissertation, titled Politics of Subnational Democratic Consolidation and State Party Elite Adaptation in the Deep South, 1964-1980, examines the local consequences and the national repercussions of America’s most recent democratization experiences in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.
